Cress Street Beach |

From
Broadway turn left heading east on PCH. Cress street is a little over a
half a mile down PCH and the next light after you have past Thalia street.
Cress street is not too difficult to find because there is a traffic light
at Cress street. The picture shows Cress street and the building that you
should look for to mark the right turn onto the street. You will be making
a right hand turn onto Cress street so make sure that you give yourself
an opportunity to get into the right-hand lane on Coast highway. |
Parking |
|
 |
Parking
at Cress Street Beach is very limited as is seen in the picture. In fact
there aren't more than just couple of parking places on the street. You
are also competing with several hotels on Cress street for parking. There
are parking meters to pay, you feed them 1 quarter for each 15 minutes and
there is a two hour limit before you are supposed to move your car. There
is also an alley way on both sides of Cress street but parking on the alley
is very scarce. Please don't park in someone's driveway though. The Laguna
Beach parking enforcement is one of the fastest and most efficient that
I have ever seen. If you park in someone's driveway or you don't keep the
meter fed and your car moved you will get a ticket. |
Beach Access |
|
 |
Beach
Access at Cress Street Beach is via over 57 concrete steps, I don't know
exactly how many because the sand was covering up the bottom portion of
the stairs. The beach area is wider at Cress street than the beaches between
Thalia and Brooks streets. There are nice sandy area's on this beach that
can be used to place any extra equipment that you may have. |
Facilities |
|
| Facilities
at Cress Street Beach are limited to the bench and trash can that are pictured
here. They are located in the middle of the stairs that lead down to the
beach. |
Diving |
|
 |
Cress
Street Beach has an exposed reef very close to the shore. The reef is great
for diving and snorkeling. The depth is about 15 to 25 feet around the reef
and has a lot to see. This beach is more exposed to the waves and the diving
and visibility are much better on days where the water is flat. This beach
is a great diving opportunity. There may be some surfing in this area also
so, be careful! |
