From
Broadway turn left heading east on PCH. Mountain street is the first street
past the traffic light at Cress street. Mountain street is not too difficult
to spot once you pass Cress street. The picture shows Mountain street and
the building that you should look for to mark the right turn onto the street.
Be sure that when you get onto Coast Highway you should stay in the right-hand
lane and be ready to turn onto Mountain street. |
Parking |
|
 |
Parking
at Mountain Street Beach is fairly limited as is seen in the picture. There
are parking meters to pay, you feed them 1 quarter for each 15 minutes and
there is a two hour limit before you are supposed to move your car. There
is also an alley way on one side of Mountain street and there may also be
some parking available there. Please don't park in someone's driveway though.
The Laguna Beach parking enforcement is one of the fastest and most efficient
that I have ever seen. If you park in someone's driveway or you don't keep
the meter fed and your car moved you will get a ticket. |

Access |

Beach
Access at Mountain Street Beach is via 63 concrete steps with a long pathway
at the top. The beach area has plenty of space to put extra gear or tanks
that you may have brought (for that second dive). Mountain street is a popular
alternative lifestyle street with restaurants, bars and shops catering
to this. |
Facilities |
|
| Facilities
at Mountain Street Beach are scarce. The picture shows a couple of phone
booths that are available. I was interested in them because they are the
kind that take ANY form of payment! Coins, bills, ATM cards, credit
cards, I was impressed with how they were trying to make it easy to make
a phone call. There is also a bench and trash cans available.

Diving |

Mountain
Street Beach is right next to Cress street and the exposed reef that is
there. Mountain can be used as an alternate parking area for Cress street
and is a good entry point for the east side of the reef at Cress street.
Most of the reefs in Laguna Beach run parallel with the shore. When the
waves are small or better yet "non existent" this is a great scuba diving
beach. |
